"Empathetic alt folk"

Time Out   -  November 2009

"Layers of harmony and incisive arrangement squeezed into perfectly crafted songs"

Panic Magazine Event Programme   -  26 May 2007

"The evening's high point for me though was Echotone, comprising original members Lee Moffatt and James Goodwin (vocals, guitar) and additions Melanie Ferguson (vocals, percussion) and Paul Whibley (drums).

They have plenty of influences - country, folk, and indie - but the overall effect is of a wonderfully fresh sound, with many songs including an adept three-part vocal harmony.

The best bits included Where Do You Go To?, which features tinkling glockenspiel and Lee's distinctive voice - deep, nasal, hints of Neil Young.

My favourite song was perhaps Getting My Life Back, a hauntingly resonant, mellow minor-key folk melody, which hints at lost love but makes you want to hear it repeatedly".
